Job Description
- Communicate with sales people regarding new sales deals to determine fit of solution.
- Provide standard, preliminary demos.
- Respond to "Request for Proposals" or "Request for Information". Basically answer questions regarding technical and funcational requirements.
- Provide in-depth, customer specific product demonstrations.
- Answer follow-up questions
Pros
- Interaction with a variety of people ranging from technical engineers to business executives.
- Teamwork with salespeople, product management and product marketing.
- A little travel but not as bad as post-sales consutlants.
- Contribute to the sales process but are not responnsible for the final sale. (Less pressure)
Cons
- Sometimes encounter sales reps with little ethics and put into compromising positions.
- Sometimes do not have full picture of a sale. Only pulled in for specific demos or RFPs.
- If you do not have a good manager who allocate resources appropriately, you will need to develop good boundary because every request is urgent in sales..
