Job Description
I was an analyst/ consultant for not one, but two of the Big 5 management consulting firms. My experience there has told me that this is how it is no matter which of the firms you work for. It may seem "glamourous", and you might think you are truly helping clients do something they can't on their own, but realize that you are actually doing something that no one else wants to do. You are basically a glorified temp. The consulting firm you work for gets paid $175/hour for you, while you get what amounts to be about $23/hour (remember you work 12 hours days)
Pros
nice San Francisco office building (when you are actually there)... overlooking the Bay Bridge and waterfront, located at 1 Market Plaza, Spear Street Tower.... a generally younger crowd of co-workers, usually just out of college... most are 23 - 35 years of age.... the best company parties (holiday and others) i've ever been to....
Cons
lnog hours 12 - 16 hours a day, sometimes 6 or 7 days a week... sent off to remote and awful locations for several months at a time... Omaha, Minneapolis.... Bakersfield.... Fresno..... put on random projects that you know nothing about and are expected to produce results... If you have a pet or a boyfriend or girlfriend, or are married, you will have to sacrifice it...
