Pros

1. Environment - People are cool and our team is close-knit. A lot of people display genuine passion for what they are doing.

2. Exposure - I get a lot of exposure to school systems around the country. Our clients are all contacts on a school district level and we get to hear a lot of feedback about things that are going well and not going well in our educational systems. There is a real relevance between government programs like NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND and the actual work that I do.

3. Schedule - Mainly 8 hour days/40 hour weeks which makes planning the rest of your life nice.

4. Experience - I am gaining a lot of experience and improving skillsets that are useful in almost any industry. Our company has access to online training courses so I am improving my Office and database skills. I also have an assistant assigned to me which gives me the opportunity to improve my training, mentoring, and management abilities. My job responsibilities also include some client assistance so I am working on service skills as well.1. Pay - The salaries do not measure up with the sector and location. As a result, turnover in the company and in my team in particular, is higher than I've witnessed at previous places of employment.

2. Opportunity - While there is ample opportunity to improve upon skillsets within a position, there isn't a clear path to follow for anyone who wants to commit and work their way up at one place. My position is definitely transitional. The average lifespan of someone in the same position is probably two ot three years.

3. Workload - The workload is somewhat cyclical, depending on the normal school schedules throughout the year and also the administration dates for state exams. There are times when work piles up and there are times when there's not a whole lot to do. It's not a big con because most jobs will be like that as well.
